Auckland is hilly and they have been transforming the waterfront into a pedestrian friendly stroll area. There are also numerous beaches and islands around for hiking (bushwalking) and sun bathing. I also visited th maritime museum with a exhibition about the America Cup… surprinsingly they didn’t say much about the time Alinghi won the Cup…
Hobart is a mix of some nordic city mixed with Australian landscape. Starting point of many expeditions to the South Pole and largest city in Tasmania, it is organized around the harbour. It is a lively city with markets, music festivals in the summer and diverse architectural styles.
Sydney is busy, loud and chaotic (what the hell where the urban planners thinking when they planned it?!?). The tour guide said that the motto of Sydney could be: « we don’t know what we are doing, but we are doing it anyway ». However, the city has much too offer and not just pretty…
