Founded to accomodate the worst of the convicts, Port Arthur has a very interesting past. The site is now protected and a World Heritage Site. It shows how the village was built to control, rehabilitate and put the convicts to work.
It is also a beautiful area carved by the ocean and there are some spectacular rock formations due to the erosion in the area.
